If you've ever considered a career in ballroom dance, this is your chance for a sneak preview of what it really takes! This is an extraordinary opportunity to study with world-renowned "teacher of teachers," Diane Jarmolow, who founded both the Metronome Dance Center in San Francisco, and the Ballroom Dance Teachers College in Oakland, CA. She also wrote the book on DVIDA certification and preparation. During this one-week intensive you will:
Learn to Lead and Follow the 6 Core Ballroom Dances
Learn Basic Teaching Terminology
Explore what it's really like to be a dance teacher
Includes:
35 hours of instruction
Monday through Friday, 9 am - 1 pm, 2 pm - 5 pm.
Lunch at the BDTC studio Monday - Friday 1 pm - 2 pm.
Transportation from hotel to BDTC studio Monday - Friday
Who: For people who are passionate about dance and want to explore the possibility of making it a career! Enrollment is limited to 12 students to guarantee a high quality experience.
Prerequisite: Ability to dance Leader's OR Follower's parts of the basic steps in Rumba, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz and Tango. (* You may use this Intensive as a stand alone course or to prepare for the "How to Get Certified" Intensive, immediately following from February 19 - March 2)
Location: The peaceful, scenic BDTC Studio in the Oakland hills of California.
You provide:
Airfare: to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Transportation: from airport to the hotel.
6 nights Accommodation: BDTC has reserved a number of single and double rooms at the Four Point Sheraton in Emeryville, CA (from Sun, Feb 11 - Sat, Feb 17, 2007) at a discounted rate which includes breakfast. Please call the hotel directly at 800-325-3535 or 510-547-7888 to book your accommodation. Be sure to mention the "BDTC Group" and specify which dates you would like to stay in order to secure the group discount. Reservations must be made no later than January 10, 2007 however, it is advised to book as early as possible.
Dinner: Hotel is within walking distance of restaurants, movies and mall.
Optional After-hours Practice: Allegro Ballroom is across the street from the hotel, for students interested in additional practice.
Optional Materials: (Available at DanceVision.com) DVIDA Bronze Smooth and Rhythm Syllabi (Required for the "How to Get Certified" Intensive). Diane's new Dance Vision "Get Certified" DVD and Guidebook; Bronze DVIDA Syllabus Videos or DVD's in Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Cha Cha, and East Coast Swing.
